Who we are

Unhindered Path is my space to share the trips, tips, and travel ideas that have been years in the making. I didn’t grow up taking traditional family vacations. Most of our getaways were local, with a few memorable exceptions-Lake Okoboji in Iowa and St. Louis, Missouri, to see the Arch. Even then, I discovered a love for long drives, especially in the fall.

High school opened my eyes to how much of the world was waiting. A music trip to Chicago sparked my curiosity, followed soon after by an impulsive Thanksgiving adventure to Boulder, Colorado-two sixteen-year-old girls boarding a Greyhound on their own, which I don’t recommend, but it certainly fueled my sense of exploration. The summer before graduation, my family traveled to Eugene and Portland, Oregon, where I experienced new cultures and lifestyles beyond the Midwest.

College added more stamps to my personal travel map, including a week in New York City while studying fashion merchandising and interior design. But all of that was only the beginning. Over the last sixteen years, my husband, two stepdaughters, and I have camped, glamped, and hotel-hopped across many states and at least one country, collecting stories and memories along the way.

Unhindered Path is where I hope to share those experiences and inspire you to explore alongside us as we continue carving out our own trail.

“Do not follow where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson~
